Viruses
can be spread
via websites as an attachment in e-mails or
directly over the internet. They hide in applications or
files and spread from computer to computer. There are many
kinds, some serious and some that remain dormant or in the
background.
Trojans
are hidden within a file that looks harmless, like a
picture of an animal aiming to trick the user into opening
installing the malicious software like spy ware or ad ware
on their computer.
Fishing or spoof is
when you receive an email usually from a source
claiming to be a bank who tells you you need to log
in or you will loose your service. Don't open any of
the links, either delete them or forward them on to
the banks concerned with a 'spoof received' as
subject.
Worms
-
take advantage of any open Internet connection. They try
to sneak in and duplicate on your computer. Once on they
often start to send spam from your computer without you been
aware. |
