Successful dog breeding is a challenge.
If there's one thing to remember when breeding
it's never become complacent, It matters little if you are a
first time breeder or an experienced and well known kennel
operator, an experienced breeder can become too relaxed
sometimes. The best advice is from your local vet who should be
informed that you are hoping to breed from your dog.
They will have dealt with your dog on
numerous occasions and is only a phone call away if anything
should go wrong during the pregnancy. Getting a quality partner
to breed off is essential as some purchasers request to see the
father of the pups.

Some questions you should ask yourself - Have you got the room
for eight pups? Does your whole family mind the upset? Have you
got the time to look after puppies for at least six weeks? Can
you afford the first injections, vet bills? It is recommended
that the pups are seen by a recognized vet and given a once
over. What happens if you can't sell the pups? How will
you advertise them, usually word of mouth isn't enough unless
you are well connected via dog shows etc. Remember if you have
kids they will be more than likely upset when the pups have to
go. It can go both ways I know people who have bred only once
and say they will never breed again and on the other hand others
want to breed full time as they just adore the whole process.
