A Bit of info on Lacoste
– It all started with a bit of tennis,
then embroidery, a short sleeve top and
some fantastic marketing.
Rene Lacoste the famous
tennis player was the man behind the
‘crocodile’ which was designed by his
friend Robert George. The crocodile was
embroidered on to a shirt for Rene who
used the logo as his own symbol. This
then spread to the manufacture of a
tennis shirt that could be sold to the
masses. Even long after Rene Lacostes
death the brand stretches from adults
casual wear, kids clothing, perfume,
aftershave, sunglasses, watches and even
boxer shorts. There are literally 100s
of Lacoste stores across the globe and
there's hardly a sports shop that you
can visit without seeing that all
conquering crocodile. |
