Whitehall Palace
had it’s
stabling where
Trafalgar Square
now stands, this
was from the
early 14th
century to the
mid 17th
century. The
area which we
all know today
was cleared in
1812 and
redeveloped by
the rising star
architect John
Nash. The area
was officially
named Trafalgar
Square in 1830;
it just shows
how much work
and money went
into the area
within those 18
years.
The
Square is a focal point
for people to have their
say, from protests to
rallies, if you want to
make a point then go to
main place ‘Trafalgar
Square’. See
what’s going on now with updates every 5
seconds on the live cam.
Where is
Trafalgar Square? As
most of us know London
is a big place and very
busy with the world and
his wife having a
competition to get
to their destination
first. If you’re on
holiday, take your time
and chill out. From
Hyde Park Corner drive
along Piccadilly to
Piccadilly Circus, at
the roundabout take the
4th exit into the
Haymarket At the end of
Haymarket, turn left
into Pall Mall and the
next left into Whitcomb
Street. Rail
Charring Cross Station,
Euston Station, Victoria
Station is all within 2
miles. Arriving at any
London mainline rail
station, take the
underground to either
Piccadilly Circus or
Leicester Square
(Northern or Piccadilly
lines). Follow signs to
Leicester Square and
then the National
Gallery and that will
bring you into Whitcomb
Street. Heathrow
Airport is only 16 miles
from the ‘Square’; take
the Piccadilly line to
Piccadilly Circus. A
brisk walk and you
should arrive after
about 8 minutes, again
take your time and enjoy
the capital and the
famous folk you are
likely to see.
